About the Author
Often called the father of science fiction, British author Herbert George (H. G.) Wells literary works are notable for being some of the first titles of the science fiction genre, and include such famed titles as The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and The Invisible Man. Despite being fixedly associated with science fiction, Wells wrote extensively in other genres and on many subjects, including history, society and politics, and was heavily influenced by Darwinism. His first book, Anticipations of the Reaction of Mechanical and Scientific Progress Upon Human Life and Thought, offered predictions about what technology and society would look like in the year 2000, many of which have proven accurate. Wells went on to pen over fifty novels, numerous non-fiction books, and dozens of short stories. His legacy has had an overwhelming influence on science fiction, popular culture, and even on technological and scientific innovation. Wells died in 1946 at the age of 79.

Amazingly prophetic

and therefore depressing. The truth always seems to be bad news. If you want to see just how we are screwed by governments and how we were screwed and how we will on-goingly being screwed read this book. We being the working man.
Billions of dollars stolen, wars on going, big money makes more and more government and lawyers and the rich hording everything and the citizens take it in the shorts!
Wells is brilliant!

I really enjoyed reading it!

H.G.Wells is quite a writer anyway and his classics of Science Fiction ( Like 'War of the Worlds' ) are literary icons,but I found this 'true to life' work of his to be just as absorbing and interesting as any work of fiction that Mr.Wells dreamed up!
I partial to anything that has to do with the first World War anyway and while this piece ( written in early 1916 ) might not 'grab' casual readers it certainly entertained ( and informed! ) me! It was well worth checking out and I'm happy that I did!

Interesting Read.

this was very interesting. it's amazing to see how far ahead of his time that HG Wells was and how right he was about so many things.
keep in mind this is NOT a work of fiction but more of an essay on what Wells though the future of war and the overall world would look like. You will lose count on how many things he was right about.
I am glad I read it.
