He doesn’t move, studying me with an intensity I can’t explain. And that’s when it happens – the moment I’m blindsided by the imminent collision of time and fate. For one, surreal moment my sense of self bleeds away, and I become all that I’ve seen, and all that will come to be at my choosing.
***
Synopsis:
It’s been two years since Paige Prescott discovered the gift that nearly got her committed. But now she knows better than to tell anyone about the visions that plague her: futures for which she’s fated, unless she can change them first.
But when a tragic event unfolds on the last day of senior year, Paige’s carefully crafted façade shatters, plunging her into a dangerous new reality where her gift is a coveted weapon – and she learns she's not the only one with a secret.
Now, torn between a world she thought she knew and one she wished she didn’t, Paige must rely on her gift – and the guidance of a veiled enigma – to outmaneuver a formidable kind. But if she wants to reclaim her future, she’ll have to make a stunning choice: one bound by love, loyalty, and lies –
And the power of timing fate.

“Look, why don’t we start over?” he says, gesturing for me to return to the seat beside him. It’s more of a directive than an invitation, but as his eyes lock with mine there’s no trace of his customary superiority. Instead, there’s only honesty. And that something that makes my stomach squeeze.
“Please,” he adds softly, which is all it takes for my legs to override my brain and walk over there.
“Crap.”
“Sorry?”
Apparently, my brain-to-mouth filter is a casualty of the override.
“Nothing,” I mutter, waving him off. “You asked to start over – so start.”
A slow smile spreads across his features. It’s a startling transformation, but for all the wrong reasons: his game face is lurking.

Outstanding!
By Reddsilk65
A friend of mine, actually a distant cousin, mentioned this book on facebook and I decided to give it a try. I was quite pleased that I downloaded it to my Kinkle Fire. What a page turner. The pace was fast, the characters engaging and well developed, the language was a bit "young" for me (but just chalk that up to me being an old broad) and the world the author created was rich and full.
I liked the way that when I paid very close attention, I could sometimes figure out what was going on before Paige did. The twists the author created with Paige's relationships between herself, Nate (or should I say Nathan) and Xaevier made my head spin in a very pleasant way.
My only two negative comments would be that I found the person/tense (if I remember my grammer correctly) of 1st person present tense, a bit annoying. My mind kept wanting to change to the more familiar past tense and it sometimes caused me some confusion. It didn't stop me from finishing the book. My only other problem was that it was over much too soon for me. I read it in less than 24 hours and it just left me hungry for more.
I look forward to the release of Haelven with great anticipation.

I didn't hate it, but I'm sort of confused...
By Bookcrazy G
I'll be honest, I spent 5 minutes deciding whether I should give it 3 or 4 stars, but only because I think it might be 3.5.
I think the reviewers who gave it 2 stars said pretty much what I think of this book, at the end I'm not sure exactly what happened during the story.
In the beginning I found it interesting, a girl who can see the future, which brings realistic problems.
Her parents think her crazy, because trying to prove her power is almost imposible (her visions aren't perfect and how does she explain them she changed the future, that something else was supposed to happen? it's not like she can see lottery numbers). The doctors decide she has psychiatric problems, and medicate her accordingly, and sometimes even Paige wasn't sure what to think of the strange hability she gets at the age of sixteen. It also brings problems to her social life, as she has decided she won't tell anyone of her visions.
But a few chapters into the book, a lot of things happen. So many, in fact, that while I was still reading I had trouble to remember the order of the events of previous chapters. There are so many subplots and misteries surrounding Paige, her powers and relationship with the elves, the story gets confusing and sometimes I wasn's sure what the point was.
The same happenend with most of the characters. There are so many, each with his/her agenda (that they don't share or give us clues about) that they sort of become background noise.
The good things:
The main characters are interesting and the premise seems original enough. I won't get into detail because it might spoil the book for others, but there a couple of good and unique ideas.
All in all, while the book left more questions than answers, i have hope the sequel might improve my view of this series in the making.

Fallen souffle
By Ozmatoo
I'm going to go with the other reader who was "confused the whole time" (other 2 star review) because of the author's poor use of subplots and new characters. The heroine has a "smart mouth" which is pretty much the only upside of the book. Otherwise, she's stared down by inhumanely beautiful fey people even after she slams someone with a great one liner, so the punch lines always lose their punch. (In fact the whole story is flooded with an intolerable number of encounters involving "stink-eye contests). In my opinion, the gift of foretelling horrible events (such as the death of friends, or a zombie invasion, or whatever) is not an enjoyable talent to read about, even if one could possibly learn to change fate. I can see that the subtitle is "Timing Fate", but with an author who can't time very much, there is no incentive to read the sequels.
This poor girl, whose gift of prophecy is (as yet) completely uncontrollable, is very suddenly thrust into a world of high and halfbreed "elves", and the readers are also thrown under that bus with her. There's no preparation for the many, many new people she meets, who is dating whom, which are more manipulative, or what the hell is really happening. It's as though readers are supposed to understand some new group of people or some new level of magic when it hasn't even been hinted at, much less explained. Now that I think about it, everyone in this book is so thoroughly unlikeable (from the parents to superficial high school friends to the magical misfits) that everything collapses, like a bad souffle. I truly hate trashing a story, but this "novella" was really a mess.
